In this comparison table, we see that both tools support a wide range of Salesforce editions, and both support Salesforce Campaigns. However, once you start to create your email, they start to differ. MassMailer has a wizard style campaign creator which makes it easier to use than Campaign Monitor.
Campaign Monitor has an edge with its own rich text editor complete with templates, and more styling options. MassMailer uses Salesforce’s rich text editor, which does the job, but isn’t as refined. However, for saving templates, MassMailer is more convenient, allowing you to save templates within Salesforce.
When your email creative is ready, you need more options to send it out. Here, MassMailer is the clear winner. It allows you to compare your email with other mass emails sent, so you can better gauge performance. With MassMailer you can schedule one-off emails, have more options for the ‘Sender’ field, and can more easily merge fields than with Campaign Monitor.
One vital feature that Campaign Monitor lacks is Mass stay-in-touch. This is a way to keep your lists up-to-date by requesting users to update their contact details if its changed recently.
When it comes to reporting, both are evenly matched, showing real-time stats in Salesforce, allowing you to view both reports and dashboards, and giving you detailed information about how your campaigns performed.
Though not the most important feature, seeing how your campaigns were shared on social media may in some scenarios, and Campaign Monitor supports this feature.
Finally, when it comes to ease of use, MassMailer trumps Campaign Monitor because of its Salesforce-native user experience. It is more deeply embedded into Salesforce, and if your team is heavily invested in Salesforce, you’d want your mass emailing tool to offer a similar experience, and this is what MassMailer brings. Campaign Monitor needs configuration to match its fields with Salesforce, and can take some getting used to for Salesforce users.
In conclusion, Campaign Monitor has the better email editor, and some social monitoring. And MassMailer has more options to customize the way you send emails out, supports mass stay-in-touch, and has a Salesforce-like user experience. We believe that MassMailer stands out as the better tool when it comes to mass emailing for Salesforce.
